Instrument Rental Purchase Plans
A quality instrument capable of producing a warm and pleasing tone is a critical element in the success of the young string player. The positive reinforcement of good sound and ease of playability encourages the student to practice and to take pride in his or her accomplishments. Lesson time will be more productive as the student and teacher benefit from a problem free instrument!
We rent 1/4 through full size violins and small violas. Our rental instruments are made from well seasoned spruce and maple. The fingerboard, tailpiece, pegs and chinrest are made from solid ebony. The bridge and soundpost are carefully fitted to optimize tone and each violin is strung with Thomastic Vision strings. The instruments are carefully adjusted in our shop prior to being rented.
All rent paid, up to a maximum of 12 months, may be applied towards the purchase of any instrument in our shop of equal to or greater value than the rental instrument. Small rental instruments can be exchanged, at no charge, for the next largest size as necessary.

Better Quality Instruments - Most general music stores rent the least expensive instruments possible in order to maximize their rental profits. The outfit we rent is one that sells for $695 which directly reflects the quality of the outfit. We rent out a much better quality instrument with the idea that the child will continue to practice if the instrument has a good tone and plays easily. Our profit is realized when the student progresses to the point where he or she is ready to purchase their own instrument from our shop.
Professional Setup - Nothing ruins a student's enthusiasm like a poorly set up instrument. A badly cut bridge makes it difficult to bow one string at a time and the incorrect height of the strings above the fingerboard can make it painful to press the strings down. A poorly adjusted soundpost can make the violin difficult to play and often causes the tone to be harsh. A properly adjusted instrument is fun to play and encourages the student to practice and continue lessons. All instruments rented from our shop are professionally set up and adjusted by Lance Bellamy, a trained luthier (violin maker) and violinist. No rental instrument leaves the shop until it meet his high standards.
Instrument Purchase - Most rental plans, including ours, offer a purchase option. The time to explore that option is before you sign the rental contract. Does the store or shop have a large selection of quality instruments at reasonable prices? Will you be locked into purchasing a poor quality instrument in order to recoup the rent you have already paid? Have you asked the string teacher where they would purchase an instrument for a student? At Bellamy Violins we have a large selection of expertly set up and adjusted instruments in all price ranges. We will be glad to answer any questions you may have about our instruments and violins in general. We will play any instrument for you and take whatever time necessary to insure you and your child are satisfied with your purchase.
Rental Purchase Plans
3 Month Plan - The term of the rental agreement is 3 months. The cost per month is $29.00. A total of $87.00 plus tax is due at the time of rental. All rent paid, up to a maximum of 12 months, may be applied towards the purchase of any instrument in our shop of equal to or greater value than the rental instrument.
10 Month Plan - The term of the rental aggreement is 10 months. The cost per month is $20.00. A total of $200.00 plus tax is due at the time of rental. All rent paid, up to a maximum of 12 months, may be applied towards the purchase of any instrument in our shop of equal to or greater value than the rental instrument.
